Maine Coon - big giant among cats of other breeds!
Breed history:
Actually the history of breed Maine Coon is shrouded by secret. These cats have appeared on the American continent many years ago (in the end of a XIX-th century) together with the first ships of immigrants from Europe. Further – area of legends, that those cats were in romantic flirtation with North American lynx (argument of this version is famous delightful tuffs on ears of Maine Coon), or even with raccoon (basis of this version is the present part of a word «coon» in «raccoon»). But it only fantastic legends, which cannot be truth, therefore occurrence of breed Maine Coon remains a riddle for us!
Character of Maine Coon's:
Maine Coons are famous for their kindest character. In my opinion, they are the kindest and sensitive cats in the world! Their character differ special tenderness and goodwill.
Pedigree feature of Maine Coon is their quiet and counterbalanced temperament. It is result of long and persistent work of many generations of people (breeders), which learned this breed, they imparted to Maine Coon new qualities, and then fixed them.
Maine Coons - not aggressive animal and very patient. They have powerful claws and impressive teeth and they never start up them in an everyday life. This breed is distinguished by clever behavior as at relation to surrounding people, as and to animals. If since the childhood we will to accustom Coonies to bathing, drying by dryer, a combing and many other hygienic procedures, it will becomes a habit for them through some time. Certainly, they do not like many procedures, but they get used to our care gradually, and even much starts to be pleasant for them.
Maine Coons perfectly communicate with children! It is rumored, that many Maine Coons well play a role of babysitter. They can look after the kid while that is out of sight of mother, and at the first anxiety of the babe to inform the parent on their child. There were cases, when Coonies substituted a pillow to themselves, that the child has not fallen and has not hurt nothing.
Maine Coons quickly get used and adapt in new conditions of life. Therefore, when you take small kitten of Maine Coon in your house, don't worry, how he will adapt on new place. You will need to show to him only, where there are his bowls, a toilet and to arrange small excursion at your house. At first time you will be to play with him more and to give of particular attention. You will not notice even, how this small kitten will becomes full owner of your house!
Physiology of Maine Coon's:
The average weight of males usually happen 7 - 12 kg (there are as well larger males of 14 - 15 kg), and females 6 - 9 kg. Both males, and females of this breed till 3 - 5 years are considered as kittens and continue to develop. Maine Coons differ rather large sizes, are moderately dressed and very proportional. They invariably make impression of force, grace and mind. Their intellect at all does not concede to their dimensions, representatives of this breed are rather clever and logical in all acts.
The nature has created them so wisely and harmoniously, has put such strong maternity instinct and the kid birth mechanism that we only should study and enjoy existence of Maine Coons in our life!
